I used Morningstar Farms veggie crumbles for the "meat" and fat free shredded mozzarella, and mushrooms and zucchini per others suggestions. Also used high fiber pasta with calcium. Very good! - 2/17/10

Lovely. I had to add a little more water while the mix was in the pot, to stop it from sticking to the bottom, but otherwise quite tasty. I'd say that for us, a serve as about 1.5 of the recipe servings. Next time I'll add the mushrooms and sliced olives as per other members' suggestions. - 2/22/09

I just made this and it smells delicious. The only thing I would change is the servings...if this is all that is for dinner, there is no way it serves 12!!!! 6 servings is a lot more reasonable with a salad. I think I will add some canned mushrooms and some sliced black olives next time. Pizza! - 7/13/08

Very Satisfying, easy to make a large amount and freeze in individual servings for lunch. Added Red Pepper as well to give it a kick, but this is an individual pref. Thanks! - 6/13/07

This was such an easy base recipe! I left out the peppers as we had none left, added in an extra half cup of onion, and added a half cup of peas. Delish! I did have to add more water, though, to keep the meat and noodles from burning while I waited for the noodles to finish. But overall great! - 2/18/10

We've been making this for years. Our kids loved it. Some substitutions we like: ground turkey, can of diced tomatoes in place of spag sauce, addtl veggies: mushrooms, spinach. I always use w/w pasta. Great for leftovers. Also good to freeze portions. - 2/18/10

We had this for supper last evening with salad and I enjoyed it thoroughly. We made a few variations such as mushrooms and zucchini cut into cubes and a combination of orange cheddar and mozzarella. Was a quicky meal and very tasty. - 2/17/10

I made this for dinner and everyone loved it! I left out the onions and it was still great. I have very little cooking experience and it was easy even for me to make. I threw together one of those salad kits that comes with all the ingredients in the bag (Fresh Express Caesar Lite) and it was great. - 7/18/07

Reminded my hubby of goulash his mother made, and he declared it a keeper. Also used the Morning start veggie burger, which we ate growing up. Used coconut oil for frying the onions, and it took a lot more water to get the pasta cooked. Invited friends over for leftovers tonight - 3/4/11

I have not made this yet, but the recipe and its versatility interest me. One question please, having read the recipe and its preparation, since you thoroughly cook ALL ingredients on the stovetop, why on Earth do you then need to cook it 40 minutes in the oven? - 2/25/11

I would rather eliminate the cheese and use more meat. only 1 lb meat and 8 oz of pasta doesnt seem like enough food for 12 servings. Why stretch the servings to 12 when at 6 servings it is still a reasonable 355.4 calories per serving ? - 2/18/10

Will have to try this. Always looking for a simple meal to prepare during the week. I'll substitute lean ground beef instead of the turkey as I have plenty in the freezer. Casserole type dishes are always a hit in our house and leftovers make for great lunches. - 2/17/10

I made this and thought it was very good. Just a little confused about the serving size. Twelve seems like a lot of very small servings, would that be one cup servings. If so I probably had more than one serving. - 1/24/09
