I'm not really sure how we came up with such different numbers, perhaps the spark recipes caloric content for white rice is for cooked?

This is the same as a family recipe we have made for more than 50 yrs. Yes the rice is raw when it is sautéed in a bit of annato oil. At this point a pound of Ground beef is added then the onions and garlic. We also use a very sharp cheddar for the topping. Black olives make a great garnish. - 4/25/09

do you use already cooked rice, uncooked minute rice, or regular rice uncooked? I'm figuring uncooked regular rice but I just want to double check; I'd never cooked rice any other way than boiling/steaming it. - 2/19/09

I think we would have liked this better if I wouldn't have drained my tomatoes. Hubby thought this needed to have more of a tomato taste. I think the recipe was good, but my execution of it wasn't. - 2/5/18

This was really good! I was looking for an alternative to boxed rice and this is a keeper! I used fresh tomatoes, so I should've used more water, b/c the can includes some water that I didn't account for, so my rice was a little undercooked (easily fixable). I also used chicken broth. - 4/19/13

I made this last night, and really liked it. I lived in New Mexico, and they always brown the rice in a little oil before boiling it. May want to cut back on the cummin if you are not a big fan of it- This goes into my recipe box! - 9/8/10
