Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    6 cups water,
    8 tbsp jaggery,
    5 masala chai teabags
    Milk

Directions

Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat and add jaggery, stir until it is dissolved. Add the teabags and let steep for 20 minutes. Add 2 cups of water, and chill.

Makes 6 1-cup servings, as is.

When serving add somewhere between one half and equal quantity milk, depending on how strong or how mild you want the drink. Personally I usually drink it half-milk/half-chai masala.

This recipe uses jaggery, rather than white sugars as they are healthier.

This version of the recipe is a touch sweeter than most, but it is easy to dial back the sweetness by taking away one tbsp of jaggery each batch until you find a sweetness level you like.
