Introduction
A tasty frozen snack or dessert that you can take with you! A tasty frozen snack or dessert that you can take with you!Number of Servings: 1
Ingredients
-
1 banana, at your favorite level of ripeness (I used medium here, use whatever size you have, may change calorie count)
Aluminum foil
Directions
Bananas are already a great portable snack, but tend to ripen too fast on me during the dog days of summer. I don't have a food processor to make smoothies etc. so this is my way of keeping them longer, saving trips to the store, and creating a refreshing summer breakfast /snack option to boot!
1 serving = 1 banana
Cut a piece of aluminum foil that is big enough to cover the entire banana.
Peel the banana, discard the ends if needed.
Place the banana on the foil over a plate, cutting board etc.
Gently cut the banana into slices using a butter knife, keeping them together in the banana shape and taking care not to rip the foil.
Roll up the banana in the foil to cover it (kind of like a burrito) and freeze.
Once frozen, take out of the freezer and let thaw for about 10-15 minutes before you want to eat it. Thawing time will vary based on how cold your freezer is and how solid you want the banana to be.
Unwrap the banana, (again, like a burrito) and bite off the "slices" as you go.
If you want to make smaller ones, you can make 2 with half of the banana etc.
