Ingredients
-
2 cups Old Fashion Oats
4 TBSP Water
2 TBSP Cinnamon
3 TBSP DARK Brown Sugar(can reduce if adding Fruit)
1 TBSP Olive Oil (I prefer Olive Oil)
1/4 cup Sunflower Seeds
1 dash of salt (to bring out sweetness)
4 TBSP Wheat Germ
1 tsp Vanilla Extract (imitation works just fine or any type of Flavoring, your choice)
1/4 Cup Maple Syrup (can mix with Honey or Molasses will darken Granola the Combination will bring out Sweetness)
3 TBSP Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate Chips [your preference] (add ONLY AFTER Granola is completely cooled)
Directions
Preheat Oven to 275*
Mix all Dry Ingredients together including brown sugar (except chocolate chips)
Add all Liquid ingredients to a sauce pan and bring to a simmer, remove from heat
Combine Liquid and Dry Ingredients together, stirring constantly, squeeze together through your fingers to form small clumps mixing thoroughly making sure all granola is damp.
Put into slightly greased 9x13 baking pan for 30 min @ 275*
If you desire to add Dried Fruit pull out of oven at 30 min and add your favorite dried fruit, then place back into over for another 15 min to dry Fruit and Granola.
Makes 7- 3/4 cup Servings
Can Reduce Calories by Reducing Serving Size & Substituting Water for Oil
Note: Keep Granola at Low temperature in Oven to keep from scorching and to dry
Will Store for up to 2 weeks in an Air Tight Container.
ENJOY!
It's your Granola so Add your Favorite Nuts and your Favorite Fruits/Chocolate is Optional
Make sure you use OLD Fashion Oats!
For a Clumpier, Stickier Granola add Extra Maple Syrup, Molasses or Honey (again your Preference)
Will Be Sweet, Remember you will want Extra Sweetness when mixing with milk for Breakfast.
You can Reduce Sweetness some if your using Dried Fruit by reducing Brown Sugar.
Make it yours: Experiment with your Favorite Fruit and Nut Combination's for your Perfect Breakfast Cereal with Ingredients you can pronounce.
