Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1 1/2 cups steel-cut or irish oats
    1/2 cup wheat berries
    2 pears, cored and chopped
    1 tsp ground cinnamon
    1/2 tsp vanilla extract
    3 1/2 cups water
    1 cup unsweetened apple juice
    6 Tbsp ground flax seed


Directions

Lightly spray a small (31/2 quart) slow cooker crock with nonstick cooking spray.

In prepared stoneware, combine the oats through vanilla extract. Add the water and apple juice. Cover and cook on High for 4 ours or on Low for 8 hours or overnight. Stir well.

Makes 6 (1-cup) servings.

    Perhaps I missed it. What do you do with the ground flaxseed. I always add mine after cooking my oatmeal - but it is not specified here. - 3/16/12

    this sounded like a good recipe, it smelled good in the morning, but it didnīt taste that great, the pears were overcooked and it got all burnt in the bottom and sides of the slow cooker crock, a mess....i prefer my 5 min- oatmeal-apple-raisins-peanutbutter-wheat germ-cinnamon breakfast hot bowl. - 3/2/11
