Ingredients

    3 c. oats
    1 c. slivered almonds
    1 c. chopped walnuts
    1/2 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. lite brown sugar, unpacked
    1/4 c. pure maple syrup
    2 tbsp .honey,
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    12 tsp. (1/4 c.) vegetable oil
    1/2 c. wheat germ

Directions

Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Line 2 rimmed cookie sheets with foil.

In a large bowl, stir together rolled oats, almonds, nuts, wheat germ. Toss in salt and stir to evenly disperse.

In a microwave-safe measuring cup, stir together brown sugar, maple syrup, honey and vegetable oil. Heat on high for 1 minute, and then stir to disoolve sugar slightly. Stir in vanilla. Pour hot mixture over granola and stir until evenly coated.

Dump oat mixture onto the two cookie sheets, spreading and pressing down so that the oats are in a thin, closely packed layer. DO NOT TRY COOKING THE ENTIRE MIXTURE ON ONE SHEET.

Cover loosely with foil, place side by side on middle oven rack and bake 40 minutes. Remove top foil and continue baking for 20 more minutes. When cool, keep in a tightly sealed container.

Serving size: 1/3 cup (one ounce).
