Ingredients
-
1Cup of Lentils
1 Cup of beef broth (homemade or canned) OR Vegetable broth for Vegetarian
1 TBSP Montreal Steak Seasoning (or) seasoning of preference
1 TBSP of Onion Powder
1 Egg
Whole Grain Hamburger Buns
Cheese
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Onions
Any buger toppings you like!
Directions
1.) Heat 1 cup of broth until it comes to a boil
2.) Add 1 Cup of Lentils, bring back to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for approx. 30 Min., until lentils are soft and liquid is absorbed.
3.) Let lentils cool. Once cooled add seasonings and egg. Let cool in fridge for 2 hours. (Until Firm)
4.) Once firm shape into patties.
5.) Spray Pan or grill with non-stick spray and heat to medium.
6.) Cook on each side for approx. 5 min each side.
7.) Top with cheese and put on buns! Dress them up as you like! Anything Goes!
TIPS:
These are delicate, so make sure they are very firm if cooking on grill.
I like to make my patties up, put them in between waxed paper and freeze. I always have bugers handy when I'm in the mood for one and can just plop the frozen burger on the grill!
Add any seasoning you can think of for your own tastes, and to change it up. I like to add a few splashes of Liquid Smoke to my mix when I can't grill out!
I like to toast my buns!
