Ingredients

1/2 c. Raisins
1/4 c. Currants
1 c. mixed glazed fruit, finely cut
1/3 c. Citron peel (cut very thin and small)
grated rind of 1 lemon
1/2 c. slivered almonds
1/4 All purpose flour
2 c. All purpose flour
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 x 1/4 oz. Yeast
1 1/4 c. very warm milk
1/2 c. butter or hard margarine
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. ground cardamom
Topping (optional)
Icing sugar dust lightly over cooled bread
1/4 c. chopped glazed cherries or walnuts
Directions
Combine first 7 and mix, then add flour to coat. Set aside.
Add second set of ingredients to a large bowl. Add warm milk butter vanilla and cardamom and beat until smooth then add fruit mixture.
Let rise on a large bowl for two hours or until doubled in bulk in oven with light on, covered by a tea towel.
Divide dough in two and roll each into a 12/8 inch rectangle then fold over once. Cover with tea towel and let rise in oven with light on for 1 hour. Bake at 375 F for 15 to 20 min until golden brown.
Serving Size: makes 2 loafs about 16 slices each
