Ingredients

    1 cup packed brown sugar
    1 cup water
1 pkg. fresh cranberries (12 oz.)
    1 TBSP grated orange peel
    2 oranges, peeled and chopped
    1 apple, peeled and chopped

Directions

Mix brown sugar and water in Dutch oven. Heat to boiling; boil 1 minute. Stir in remaining ingredients except nuts. Heat to boiling; boil rapidly about 20 minutes or until cranberries pop and mixture thickens. Stir in nuts. Immediately pour into, hot, sterilized jars or freezer containers, leaving 1/2-inch at the top. Cover tightly; cool. Will store in refrigerator or freezer up to 3 months. Thaw before serving. This is great on breads and especially accompanied by cream cheese. Use for breakfast or serve in a fancy dish for a healthy appetizer. Recipe make about 2 1/2 pints.
