Introduction

Hearty and full of flavour. Hearty and full of flavour.
Number of Servings: 18

Ingredients

    1 - 2 lbs stewing beef
    1 med onion chopped
    2 large carrots thickly sliced
    1/2 a medium rutabaga, diced
    4 stalks of celery, diced
5 potatoes cut into large chucks
    salt and pepper
    beef boullion

Tips

Stews are always tastier the next day. You can easily cook this in a crockpot as well, just cut the spuds a little larger and add them the same time as the other vegetables. I have also slow cooked this in the oven with amazing results.

Directions

1. Heat oil in a large pot.
2. Start browning beef, toss in onions and add salt and pepper. Stirring often, cook 5 - 10 minutes over med high heat.
3. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium.
4. Stir in boullion.
5. Add rutabaga, carrots and celery, simmer 20 minutes until veggies become more tender, but are not completely cooked.
6. Add potatoes and continuing simmering another 20 minutes until all veggies are cooked.
ENJOY!
