Ingredients

    3 egg yolks
    3/8 cup granulated sugar (half of cup)
    1/3 cup milk
    1 cup whipping cream
    tsp vanilla
    1 cup mascarpone cheese
    1 cup strong brewed coffee
    1 package lady finger cookies
    1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa

Directions

1. In a medium sauce pan, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until well blended.

2. Whisk in milk and cook over medium heat stirring constantly until mixture boils.

3. Boil gently for 1 minute, remove from heat and allow to cool slightly. Cover tightly and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

4. In a medium bowl, beat cream with vanilla until soft peaks form.

5. Whisk mascarpone into egg mixture until smooth.

6. Break lady fingers to chunky pieces and place in 6 desert dishes or if making a 9 x 12 large dish cut lady fingers in half lengthwise and arrange 1 layer on bottom of dish. (large dish requires to double the recipe)

7. Drizzle coffee over lady fingers until all is evenly coated.

8. Spread half of mascarpone mixture over lady fingers and half of whipped cream over that and repeat. Sprinkle with cocoa powder. Allow to sit in the refrigerator for 2 days for best tasting results.
