Thanks so much for this inspiration!!! I did change it up a bit --- I used ground turkey instead of beef, and I followed suit of others by substituting frozen mixed veggies. I also threw a smattering of real bacon bits on top of the potatoes and a few spritzes of butter spray. 45 minutes at 350. - 5/25/10

DELICIOUS! I substituted the ground beef for ground turkey, pre blanched fresh green beens instead of canned, then cut them in nice little pieces. did the same with carrots, added worchestershire, thyme and red pepper flakes into the meat mixture. Also added horshradish to the potatoes. - 2/20/08

very good, i as well, added seasoning to the meat. i like to use mrs. dash (spelling). i substituted wheat flour and i didn't have any white potatoes so i used sweet potatoes...more nutritional value and flavor and it was very good. - 1/31/10

Thanks for the recipe! It was good. I had to add quite a bit of salt to taste so next time I will try adding things to spruce up the ground turkey like others did! - 3/25/13

Yummmm good for big groups! I used ground turkey and fresh green beans. Next time I will use only 2 potatoes and double the veggies. I did add 1 tbsp light butter and a splash of milk to the potatoes. Finally I added paprika and nutmeg to the meat. Cook it in a Dutch oven to limit dishes. - 7/31/12

Very good recipe! I added seasonings as I went along, that's just the way I cook. My shepherds pie recipe doesn't call for flour and stock; this is a nice twist. Will definitely make again. - 4/22/12

Very happy with this. I forgot to add the pepper until after, and you can taste the difference. But when I added it, wow! It is a stand out dish. :) - 11/8/11

This was good. I really missed my version of shepherd's pie which has cheese between the potatoes and the meat mixture. I think I'll try it again with some low fat cheddar. - 7/31/11

I made this tonite & thought it was pretty good; a little bland for my tastes but that could easily be remedied next time by adding other spices to it. I used 2 green onions in place of the yellow & no salt canned mixed veggies for the green beans. Will make again but will add more spices. - 3/8/11

We love Shepherd's Pie; I was glad to find this recipe. Estimated time needed in the oven would be helpful.

Minor changes which worked: a bag of mixed vegetables (carrots, corn, green beans) and 1/4 tsp of McCormick Smoked Maple flavoring. In the potatoes I use soy milk instead of sour cream.
