Introduction

This was a Betty Crocker good & easy recipe from the 70's. Of course original recipe is 4 lbs ground beef, I use less salt & no water.This makes a large amt. that you can divide & freeze or make for party or large gathering.

Ingredients

    Ground beef, lean, 1 lb
    Venison, ground, 3 lb
    Onions, raw, 1 cup, chopped
    Celery, raw, 1/2 cup, diced
    Catsup, 2 cups
    Lemon Juice, 1/4 cup
    Brown Sugar, 2 Tbsp packed
    Worcestershire Sauce, 1 Tbsp
    Salt, 1 tsp
    Cider Vinegar, 1 tbsp
    dry mustard, 0.5 tsp

Tips

I usually brown meat 1-2 lbs at a time & added to stew pot. Drain fat, if needed (I use lean beef & vension has no fat) I sometimes even need to add some water to keep from sticking.


Directions

In large cooking pot, cook & stir ground meat, onion & celery. Cook until meat is browned & onion is tender. Stir in remaining ingredients (I usually mix them in a large 4 cup measuring cup & pour in) heat to boiling stir frequently. Reduce heat cover & simmer for 30 minutes.
Serve on buns.

Serving Size: makes 30-40 hamburger bun servings
