Number of Servings: 8


    3 cups dry black beans, sorted and rinsed
    10 cups tap water
    1 tbsp smoked paprika
    1 tbsp cumin powder
    1.5 tbsp onion powder
    1 tsp black pepper
    3 whole garlic cloves, peeled
    1/4 cup of each of the following:
    100% real maple syrup
    packed brown sugar
    tomato ketchup
    your favorite barbecue sauce (I used "Sweet Baby Ray's)


Cook the beans in the slow cooker in JUST the water for about 4 hours. After four hours, the beans should be soft enough for you to add the other ingredients. (Some ingredients severely delay cooking time of beans, especially garlic and onions). Cook for an additional 2-4 hours, so that the water in the beans thickens.

Serving Size: Makes about 8 one-cup servings,(1 cup including liquid)
