Ingredients

    1 cup Steel Cut Oatmeal
    4 cup water
1 medium fresh apple, sliced thin, peel on.
    1/3 cup raisins
    1/3 cup dried blueberries
    1/3 cup dried cranberries
    1/4 cup packed brown sugar
    2 tsp apple pie spices
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper, if you want a little kick.

Tips

The 1 hour cooking time is approximate for the rice cooker. I set mine up with the timer set for completion about an hour before I expect to get up. The house smells of apple pie.

The cayenne is, of course, optional, but it does not overwhelm the sweetness of the bowl. It gives it a spicy aftertaste, almost as if you swallow then think you taste it.

Directions

Assemble the ingredients in your rice cooker or slow cooker. If you are using a rice cooker, set it on the porridge mode. If using a slow cooker, set it on low and let it cook over night.
