Introduction

Cabbage stuffed with ground beef, cooked in a crock pot. Cabbage stuffed with ground beef, cooked in a crock pot.
Number of Servings: 15

Ingredients

    1 medium head of cabbage
    1 1/2 lb. ground beef
    1 cup of cooked white rice
    1 cup of sauerkraut
    2 cups of tomato sauce
    1 small onion, chopped

Directions

Boil cabbage to soften.
Meanwhile, mix the raw beef, cooked rice, onion together.
Put a small scoop of the mixture into each cabbage leaf and roll it.
Put about 1/2 cup of tomato sauce and half of the sauerkraut into a crock pot .
Arrange the cabbage rolls on top.
Top it off with remaining sauerkraut and tomato.
Cover and cook on low for about eight hours.

    thanks for posting this. It's almost identical to the way my mom makes it. She uses Campbell's tomato soup in it as well. I used brown rice. - 12/9/09

    I think the basics of the recipe work wonderfully. I switched out the beef for soy beef, and the rice for potatoes - but really, the value of a recipe like this is in its combination, and this combination works nicely! - 4/11/13

    I love stuffed cabbage, and this recipe looks like it would be very healthy compared to what I am used to, growing up in a Polish household. :-) - 8/5/12
