Introduction
I'm writing this sauce recipe separately, because a person can limit the sauce to about a tablespoon; the nutrition info for half the sauce ingredients would be misleading (if you were cooking two steaks). Ingredients
-
For the sauce:
1/3 cup Coconut Palm sugar (or brown sugar)
1/2 cup Bragg Liquid Aminos (or gluten-free soy sauce)
1/3 cup organic catsup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoon ground dried ginger
2 cloves garlic, minced
For the pork steaks (not included in the nutrition information, count separately):
At least 2 pork steaks (about 1 pound each)
1 cup of sliced onion, divided (or at least 1/2 cup per steak)
Directions
Mix together the sauce ingredients.
Put one pork steak in the slow cooker. Cover with 1/2 cup sliced onion. Pour half the sauce over the onion and the pork steak. Place the other pork steak on top of the first one and cover with 1/2 cup sliced onion and the rest of the sauce. Cook on low for at least 8 hours. Could be longer.
Serving Size: Makes about a cup of sauce, so the serving size would be about 1 tablespoon, however, after it is cooked it will be mixed with the meat juices, so the serving size is probably a little more.
