Introduction
Not too-thick, this chili won't annoy the kids with chunks of *gross* tomato and onion but still packs a punch. Super easy - let it sit while you're at work. Guys love it!**This recipe calls for dry beans NOT canned. Not too-thick, this chili won't annoy the kids with chunks of *gross* tomato and onion but still packs a punch. Ingredients
-
2 cups Dry Pinto Beans (Rinsed and soaked)
1 cup Dry Red Beans (Rinsed and soaked)
1 pound ground beef
6 cups water
1-2 tbsp garlic powder
1-2 tbsp onion powder
1-2 tbsp pepper
2-3 tbsp Chili powder
2-3 tbsp basil
2 tbsp corn starch (dissolved in water as per directions)
Tips
Can substitute beef for turkey.
Beans not covered by water? Add a bit more.
Want a thicker sauce? Replace a cup of water with tomato sauce.
Directions
Rinse and soak beans overnight or as directed on packaging
(Don't skimp on soaking - trust me)
In crock pot add beans, water, and meat then add seasonings.
**Do NOT add corn starch**
Stir gently, crumbling meat and mixing seasonings a bit.
Cook on low (8-10 hours)
Stir once halfway if needed, but should not necessary.
Once beans are done, mix corn starch with a bit of tap water until dissolved; add.
Allow corn starch to mix and add Crystal (to taste); stir.
Taste.
Eat.
