Ingredients
-
2 packages Extra Firm Tofu
1/2 C Hot Sauce
2 T Honey
1/4 C Vinegar
3 T Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 T Potato Starch
1 T Coconut Oil
Tips
I used the honey, vinegar, and olive oil to make this recipe more kid friendly. If you prefer a hotter sauce, just leave these out! It will be lower in fat and calories too!
Directions
Open Tofu, drain, and pat dry. Cut each patty in half (so that it is not as thick) and broil for about 15 minutes, flipping once. Let cool a few minutes, and then cut 16 cubes per piece.
While tofu is cooking, combine hot sauce, honey, vinegar, and olive oil in wide, shallow bowl. Whisk to combine. Place tofu in this mixture and let stand about 10 minutes on each side.
Add coconut oil to large skillet on high to melt. Add tofu (without sauce), and fry until browned.
Add starch to sauce and stir until dissolved. When tofu is browned, add sauce to pan and remove from heat, stirring constantly to coat. The heat of the pan will be enough to thicken the sauce.
Serve over rice or potatoes.
