    4 tsp Yeast, Red Str Active Dry Yeast (by PLEASANTDREAMS6)
    1 tsp Granulated Sugar
    1.25 cup (8 fl oz) Water, tap
    5 cup Flour - Gold medal all purpose flour
    .5 cup Granulated Sugar
    1.5 tsp Salt
    1 tbsp Crisco Pure Vegetable Oil
    24 tsp Baking Soda
    4 cup (8 fl oz) Water, tap
    12 tsp Kosher Salt (by 65PLUS1)

In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast, 1 tsp of sugar into warm water.
let stand for 10 minutes

In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt, make a well in the center, add oil and yeast, mix and form into a ball.
If the mix is too dry add more warm water, TB at a time. knead for 7-8 miutes or until smooth. lightly oil a bowl and turn the ball to coat and cover and let rise until doubled.

Preheat oven to 450. Dissolve baking soda in a bowl of hot water.
When the dough has risen, turn out on a floured surface, divide into 12 pieces. Form a pretzel shape. Then dip into baking soda solution, and place on a greased baking sheet. sprinkle with salt and bake for 8 minutes or until browned.
