Ingredients
-
2 3/4 cups flour
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsps cream of tartar
2 whole eggs
1 cup crisco shortening
Sugar mix: (for rolling dough in before baking!)
1/4th cup sugar
1 T cinnamon
dash ground cloves
dash ground nutmeg
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 F
First, cream together sugar and shortening, then add eggs and mix on high for 1 to 2 minutes, or until thoroughly blended
Next, add baking soda, salt and cream of tartar, mix thoroughly (I use an electric mixer)
Then, add flour and mix well
The dough should be the same consistency as a typical cookie dough.
Very Important: chill the dough for about 10 minutes before using.
While the dough is chilling in the fridge, prepare sugar mix
roll the chilled dough into 1" balls and dip them in the sugar mix (I roll mine in it, until they are completely covered)
Bake for about 12 minutes at 400 F
Makes about 3 dozen (if your husband/kid doesn't steal bits of dough!)
