Number of Servings: 4


    Onions, raw, .2/3 cup, chopped
    Celery, raw, 2/3 cup, diced
    Carrots, raw,2/3 cup, chopped
    *Margarine, soft, 4 tsp
    Vegetable broth or water 6 cups
    Barley, pearled, cooked, 2/3 cup
    Beans, pinto, 2/3 cup
    Tomato Paste, 1/4 cup
    Salt 1/4 tsp
    Pepper 1/4 tsp
    Basil 1/4 tsp
    Oregano 1/4 tsp
    Thyme 1/4 tsp
    Onion Powder 1/2 tsp
    Large bay leaves 1 1/2


Dice veggies
in a large pot , sautee the onions , celery , carrots and any other veggies for 3-5 min
Add vegetable broth or water and all other ingredients and bring to a simmer
reduce heat to medium low
Allow to simmer for at least a hour , stirring occasionaly until barley is soft and fluffy
