Introduction

Good soup to have when it's cold outside. Is really great to pair with a salad and garlic bread. Very filling. Good soup to have when it's cold outside. Is really great to pair with a salad and garlic bread. Very filling.

Ingredients

    3 cup Lima Beans - soaked overnight
    1 LB Jennie-O Turley Ham
    8 cloves Garlic
    1 large Onion, diced
    2 Tbsp Kosher salt (to taste)
    1 Tbsp Black Pepper (to taste)
    1 Tbsp Spike Original Gourmet Natural Seasoning
    1 Bay Leaf
    6 C Water

Directions

1. Clean and soak Lima Beans overnight in large pot. Need to have enough water, double the amount of beans.
2. Rinse Lima Beans and put back in pot with 6 cups of water. Bring to a boil.
3. Mince onion and add to pot.
4. Take skin off garlic and smash with large knife. Add to pot.
5. Add salt, pepper, Spike and Bay Leaf to pot.
6. Lower heat medium to low and cover pot. Cook until beans are tender.
7. Cut Turkey Ham into 1/2 inch squares and add to Lima Beans. Continue to cook for 30-45 minutes.
8. If soup appears to watery, use turkey baster or ladle to skim clear broth from the top of the soup. Reserve water to add back to soup if the soup becomes to thick.
9. Good to freeze for nights when you don't feel like cooking.
