Cabbage rolls w/o the fuss. A DELICIOUS low calorie substitute that will bring them back for seconds. IF THEY CAN EAT THAT MUCH...

Number of Servings: 8

    1 med head cabbage, shredded
    1lb lean ground turkey (93%)
    1/2 cup chopped green peppers
    1/2 cup chopped celery
    1 onion chopped
    14oz tomato sauce (1 can)
    28 oz diced tomato
(i use 1 can roasted garlic & 1 can plain)
1 cup brown rice (un cooked)
    Italian seasoning to taste (1tsp)
    garlic powder to taste
    salt & pepper to taste

Makes Eight Servings about 4.5" x 3" each

preheat oven to 425

brown turkey in large skillet w/onion, pepper, celery, add salt/pepper/garlic & Italian seasoning.

mix rice, 1 can (14oz) of diced tomatoes & 14oz sauce together

in a 9x13 casserole dish

Layer 1/2 the shredded cabbage, then 1/2 the meat, add all the rice/tomato mixture, balance of cabbage, balance of meat, rest of diced tomatoes.

cover and bake 425 for 1.5 to 1.75 hrs

serve with a smile.

optional (not included in nutritional info) make a side gravy using a slightly diluted can of GOLDEN CREAM OF MUSHROOM SOUP, with Gravy, in the meal or on the side, will give you 211 calories per serving.

p.s. each serving is HUGE as is... but....

If you made this as a 6-serving meal, your looking at 249 calories, w/gravy 282 calories.
and you would need one whopper of an appetite.

if you love stuffed cabbage (galumpki) this works REAL WELL as an easy/simple substitute with all the flavors & hardly any calories. I would recommend don't be shy on the cabbage - It cooks down considerably, and have a side of sauce available.(i love sauce on my stuffed cabbages)
