Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar packed
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 ginger
1/8 salt
2 TB butter
1 cup dried apples, chopped
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 tsp lemon juice
1/4 milk
1 egg
Topping:
1 tsp granulated sugar
1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees; spray a large cookie sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
In a medium bowl, combine dry ingredients and spices; mix well.
Using a pastry blender or fork, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in apples.
In a small bowl, combine the applesauce, milk, lemon juice and egg; mix well.
Add to dry ingredients; stir just until moistened.
Dough will be sticky
Place dough on cookie sheet. With wet fingers, shape into an 8-inch circle about 3/4 inch thick.
In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over the top of the dough.
With a sharp knife, socre the top surace into 8 wedges, cutting about 1/4 inch deep.
Bake 18-22 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cut into wedges, serve warm.
