Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1 yellow onion, chopped
    1 lb ground beef (lean 7% fat)
    1 small white/green cabbage
    2 cubes beef or veggie bouillion
    1 cup water
    2 tbsp maple syrup
    1 diced tomato
    ketchup
    salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Brown the chopped onion in a non-stick pand and transfer to a large pot. Fry meat until brown, pour off the grease to a cup, and add the meat to the pot. Chop the cabbage into pieces (about 1 inch squares). Using a little meat grease, brown small portions of the cabbage and add little by little to the pot. Drizzle in the maple syrup, add the beef bouillon, and mix. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Add rice and let simmer for 1 hour or more.

Serve and add tomatoes and a bit of ketchup on top.
Makes approximately 6 1.5-2 cup servings.
