Introduction
Wonderful whole wheat waffle recipe. Makes a great base for easy substitutions. Wonderful whole wheat waffle recipe. Makes a great base for easy substitutions.Number of Servings: 10
Ingredients

1 1/2 c Whole wheat flour
2 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 c Sugar
1 tbs Cinnamon (optional)
1 1/2 c Nonfat Milk
1/3 c Oil or melted butter
2 egg whites
1 egg yolk
Directions
Mix dry ingredients.
In separate bowl, separate egg white, reserve for later. Add remaining wet ingredients to the egg yolk.
Mix wet and dry ingredients together. If it seems too runny add more flour, a little bit at a time.
Beat egg whites and fold into batter.
To cook follow instructions on waffle maker.
Substitutions - Will alter the nutrition values.
Flour - whole wheat, white, traditional or any combination
Sugar - to taste, when we use all purpose flour I only use about 2 or 3 tbs
Oil - Can use canola, vegetable, olive oil, or fruit/vegetable puree. I've used pumpkin puree, I think that's been about our favorite.
Milk - Can use non-fat, 1%, 2% whole, Soy milk or water.
