Ingredients

    1 Bag dried pinto beans
    1 Farmer John Original Smoked Ham steak 97% Fat Free, cubed
    2 tbsp olive oil
    1 cup diced onion
    1 cup diced carrot
    1 cup diced celery
    6 1/2 cups water
    1 tbsp beef better than bouillon
    1 tbsp chicken better than bouillon
    1tbsp garlic powder
    1 tbsp onion powder
    1 tbsp thyme
    1 tbsp cumin
    2 bay leaves

Directions

Soak beans over night according to package.

Over medium heat saute onion, carrot and celery till tender about 10 minutes. Add ham and increase heat to med-high, saute for 2-3 minutes or till browned. Add water, bouillon, spices, and beans, bring to a boil, cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours till tender.
