Ingredients

    1 tablespoon cinnamon bark
    1 tablespoon cardamom pod (ground is ok)
    1 tablespoon dried orange peel
    1/2 tablespoon fresh ginger (a little less for ground)
    1/2 tablespoon coriander seeds
    1/3 teaspoon black peppercorns
    5 whole cloves
    2 whole star anise
    1/2 teaspoon black tea leaves (optional)
    1 1/2 pints water (5 cups)

Directions

Simmer all ingredients together in a pot for 15 minutes with the lid off so that the liquid reduces slightly. Serve sweetened with honey. A little warmed milk can be added when serving, if desired.
Makes 4 cups
