Introduction

Easy, tasty, good-for-you dessert! Easy, tasty, good-for-you dessert!
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

1 bag (12 oz) frozen mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)
    1/2 cup unsweetened apple juice
    1/4 cup orange juice
    1 tbsp Splenda
    2 tsp real vanilla extract

Directions

Thaw frozen berries in package.
Place thawed berries, juices, Splenda and vanilla extract into blender and blend until liquified.
Strain berry-juice mixture through small sieve (to remove seeds) into a flat, freezer-safe container (I use a 9x9 Pyrex dish).
Cover with plastic wrap, making sure wrap touches entire surface and freeze for about an hour, or until firm. Serve with a sprig of fresh mint, if desired.
If frozen longer than an hour, you may need to allow the sorbet to stand at room temperature for it to soften enough to serve.
Also makes great popsicles or ice cubes for fruit drinks!

Number of Servings: 6

If I'm in a rush I don't bother to thaw the berries and dont' add the splenda. Toss it in the blender with enough liquid (add H20 if needed) and *ta da* frozen deliciousness. Also, I like to substitute Limeade concentrate for a quick virgin strawberry daquiri... yummy. - 7/3/08

This is wonderful. My kids loved it too. I let them put a dollop of cool whip on. Also, I used stevia powder to sweeten. (Don't know how much, I just spinkled to taste.) - 1/8/09

I too made this and it is great did not add sweetener per my tastes but I think the serving size is way off this is more like 6 servings than 12 but the calories are low enough that if I figure it in I can eat 3or 4 servings a day and not blow my day - 7/3/08

Serving size was something of a guesstimate, and I know I tended to go small on portion size with this. I used a small scoop for my serving - like a cookie dough scoop. Bigger than a melon baller, but smaller than an ice-cream scoop. 2 scoops.

    Sorry about that.

DELISH! And super easy! I let mine set overnight because it was still too mushy after an hour. I paired one serving of this (which I thought was small) with a half cup of Guilt Free Homemade Vanilla ice cream - FANTASTIC! And then the serving size seemed perfect! Adding to my cookbook! - 5/28/08

I make this type of thing for my daughter's breakfast a few times a week before she goes to work. I usually have the leftovers and it keeps me full and not craving until close to noon hour. Excellent choice of fruit, vitamins and minerals to start off your day. - 3/6/10

The recipe has a good flavor but it is more flavored ice than sorbet. It makes great berry flavored ice cubes to spruce up your water. - 1/11/10

I will definately try this, I'm probably going to use a little honey though as I think my recent frequent headaches are because I've been using Splenda. Drat, I thought that Splenda would turn out to be too good to be true (I have a major sweet tooth!) - 2/18/09

Delicious so yummy. My favorite fruits are berries and I love pretty much any kind of smoothie. My husband and kids loved it as well. I'm new at this and the portions seem kind of small so I made only 4!!! oh well the calories all together aren't that bad - 11/15/09

I make this on a regular basis. I found that using fresh berries, instead of the bagged/frozen ones, I have fewer seeds and will actually leave them in the sorbet. Seeds are good for you but too many are a nuisance. - 7/3/08

I do something similar...I take about 1 cup of frozen strawberries and add about 1 cup fruit flavored ice tea...Gypsy Zena makes a bellini tea. Immersion blender and a few drops of stevia makes a really refreshing treat...I live in Vegas...need frozen treats all summer long! - 6/9/10

This was easy to make, but it wasn't spectacular tasting for me. My husband, son and one daughter did not like it. My other daughter thought it was just okay. I'm going to read some of the other ratings to get ideas to make it better. It's worth tweaking. - 7/17/09

I used fresh berries instead of frozen, omitted the apple juice and vanilla, added a tsp of lemon juice and used honey instead of artificial sweetener. I might add back in the vanilla when I make it again, but I never knew sorbet could be so easy! - 7/24/12
