SHERRIFHALL is referring to a recipe called "Mrs Grady's Beans" and is available on the internet. Just 'google' Mrs. Gradys beans. I make it A LOT but I use ground turkey and turkey bacon. Delicious, inexpensive, rich in fiber and protein. I will make this too because I like meatless meals sometimes - 2/1/10

Subsituted black beans for the garbanzo beans. Also added three strips of precooked bacon that I chopped up. Very good recipes to get your protein. - 2/20/10

I cook my garbano bean for 10 minutes before adding them to the other beans, it makes it a bit mire tender so my Mom can enjoy it. - 8/8/11

I left out the apple sauce and molasses and mix up the kinds of beans I use, but basically follow this recipe and it is GOOD! It is warm and hearty and comforting...and good for you. - 3/21/07

I used kidney & pinto beans along with great northerns--dried ones, & garbanzos do take much longer to cook sometimes. I added garlic powder, hot pepper flakes, worcestershire sauce, & oregano for flavor. Pretty nice, & I'm sure they'll be even better tomorrow. - 1/28/12

Wow, this was good! Used kidney and black beans instead of garbanzo and pinto, added minced garlic, and added about 1/4 cup of diced bacon. Very filling and there's enough left to divide and freeze the rest. - 12/7/11

I made this, just left the canned tomato and used fresh...but it needs some garlic girls...and definitely some bacon bits. I rinsed the canned beans, so it needed some salt also. Otherwise really good. - 11/25/11

This looks great, can someone tell me what 'tomato sauce' means in the US, because here it is the same as ketchup. I'm thinking it might be more like pasta sauce? - 8/8/11

My mom made a recipe very similar to this when we were kids--it had hamburger and bacon in it. We all LOVED it, I think I'd add some ground Turkey or something to it and it would be a meal in one. - 2/1/10
