    2/3 cup plain lowfat yogurt
    1 teaspoon fresh mint, chopped
    1 garlic clove, sliced

I loveeeee this salad. It's a little heavy on red onion, and feel free to switch out the fava beans for another depending on your preference, but all in all it is absolutely delicious and very filling. - 4/12/08

Favas, Chick peas, Garbanzos...all the same thing. Try an extra garlic clove, dill and black pepper instead of the mint. A splash of lime juice is nice too. - 3/9/08

Even after rinsing the onions they were still too strong. Fava beans were had to find. Ended up using canned ones. Not my taste for a very good salad. I agree w/previous comment waste of calories - 5/19/09

I really liked this when I ate it with wild rice. Nice change of pace from the average meat and potatoes. Since I don't like raw onions I caramelized them and mixed them with the rice instead of this salad. I'll definitely eat this again. - 1/5/09

I thought it was dull even though filling. I put in chick peas instead of fava beans as I didn't have any and it really was not great. - 6/26/08

It is different, but not my favorite, I would add vinegar next time. Or lime juice. - 4/16/08

I used canned fava beans instead of worrying about finding fresh pods. I think that the recipe was ok, but could definately use some added salt and pepper to make it taste a little better. - 4/14/08

I'm not sure I see why we need to pod the fava beans and then cook them. Can't we microwave the beans and then pod them? BTW, are fava beans similar to edamame? - 4/11/14

I liked it. I couln't find fava beans so I used light red kidney beans and I used a yellow onion instead of a red onion. I left out the mint and used greek yogurt. It was good. I ate it with corn, sweet peas, and brown rice. Next time I am going to add the sweet peas to the salad for better taste. - 12/26/09

Since I can never find fava beans (what are they?) I used edamame beans. I think it will be better with a few sunflower seeds so I'll add some nex time I use this recipe. - 8/31/09

Like other people commented...onion taste is TOO strong.
I exchanged the fava for lima and cut them in half...starchy!
I would suggest: Place all the ingredients in the fridge before serving, to blend flavours...maybe an hour or two...
I added more cucumbers after being overpowered by onions.

I enjoyed this and it was very filling. I used chickpeas instead and I think next time I'll use less onion. The onion was a little overpowering for me. - 2/2/09

A fava bean is NOT a garbanzo bean/chickpea.

It didn't taste good to me. I believe the mint and onion combo fails, although initilly it sounded interesting. - 3/9/08

I favor black or kidney beans and love mint in with cukes! - 3/9/08

I would use canned garbanzo beans - washed and rinsed, as they are mild, and add dill instead of mint, reduce the yogurt. MMM can't wait to make this for lunch! - 3/9/08

I made this but with kidney beans and I only used half of a red onion and added half of an avocado. It was good and I would make it again - 3/9/08

I didn't have Fava beans so I used Butter Beans. The onion is pungent, I would use less or perhaps a shallot. I think it needs a bit of salt and pepper and would best be served after sitting overnight so the flavors can meld. - 3/4/08

The onions were extremely strong. I liked the recipe though. I think next time I might change it up a little bit, or use less onion. - 12/20/07

It was alright--a little too much yogurt, and got a little watery. Not a bad snack, but a little too pungent. I'd probably make it again if it were modified a little. - 11/14/07

I found the onions too hot, even though I like hot stuff. There really was no flavour other than the onions. I'm glad I used canned fava beans instead of going to the trouble of cooking them. I would not make this again. - 11/7/07

I liked this recipe and used it again, changing to 1/2 white onion, white kidney beans, and adding 1/2 c. raw cauliflower slices. I re-christened it White Countess Salad. - 10/14/07

I couldn't find fava beans anywhere, so used Butter Beans instead. Very colorful. This was tasty at the beginning ... but toward the end the onions got too hot and I stopped liking the beans. - 4/7/07
