Ingredients
-
Black beans, 2 (12 oz). cans
Chili beans 2 (12 oz) cans
Diced tomatoes 2 (12 oz) cans
Yellow corn 1 (12 oz) can
1 Chopped green pepper
1 large onion, chopped
1 lb ground turkey, browned and drained
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
optional-chili powder
Directions
Mix it all together in your slow cooker and let it cook for about 4 hours on high or 6-10 on low. I add a little chili powder. I have also added 1-2 cups of water in the past to give it a soupier consistency. We also serve with baked tortilla chips, fat free cheese and fat free sour cream for those who want a more filling meal.

THIS WAS AWESOME. I HAVE SHARED THIS RECIPE WITH OTHERS. MY FAMILY LOVED IT AND WENT BACK FOR MORE. I ADDED LOW NA TOMATO JUICE TO THE RECIPE. TO CONTINUE TO MAKE IT LOW FAT I ADDED FAT FREE SOUR CREAM AND REDUCED FAT CHEESE FROM WEIGHT WATCHERS. THANKS AGAIN FOR AN AWESOME FAVORITE RECIPE. - 1/24/08

Sorry, Just saw this question re: the chili recipe. That is a good question and although according to the automatic recipe calculator it appears to be cholesterol free, all animal foods do have some cholesterol. BUT turkey is much lower than hamburger would be, hence the low cholesterol status.

The recipe doesn't say whether to drain the beans or not, so I didn't. I drained the corn, though. The result is still a bit on the soupy side, and I think it needs at least a Tbsp of chili powder. With that addition, it's quite tasty, and a great way to use up some leftover turkey. Thanks. - 12/7/20

just a comment. If this is supposed to be Chili, Why is chili powder optional? - 1/26/11

Sorry, I just saw this post from over a year ago, but the chili powder is optional because some people do not like to have the additional sodium that some chili powder contains. I know it sounds bland, but that is how some of my relatives eat chili. : )
