Fantastic vegan receipe. Also don't always use "canned" beans buy pkg of black/pinto, soak together & cook, WOW, add some fresh chopped tomatoes last 1/2 hr. Freeze leftovers (always tastes better later)! - 9/12/08

I'm confused - no tomatoes or tomato paste listed on the recipe but on the nutritional analysis, these are listed. I think this recipe is missing some ingredients. Can the author of this recipe please take a look and fix if needed? - 1/15/10

YUM! I used a can of Trader Joe's Cuban Black Beans along with another can of black beans and a can of fire-roasted tomatoes with garlic. Added spices to taste--too good! Can't wait to try it on top of a baked potato later in the week! - 1/16/10

The ingredient detail doesn't jive up with the posted recipe. For example, the ingredient detail calls for 1.02 cup of black beans, but the recipe calls for 1 can of black beans, which is more like 15 ounces - which would be almost 2 cups. The nutritition info on this is all screwed up. - 9/11/08

I make a very similar version of this but add hot rotel tomatoes but no celery. Add more heat-cayenne pepper or habenero sauce for kick, I also add a cup of various pureed green veggies-I don't like most veggies so it ups my intake. - 5/24/09

This is a wondeful remedy for chosterole. black beans is one of the highly absorbable legumes - the body makes use of almost 89% and the spices are also wonderful for fast digsetion; although i did nod not add chilli beans . i used only black beans and i sprinkled lemon juice before serving. - 3/9/09

It was good. It really doesn't make much for 6 servings. It needs to have more filling. I enjoyed how other people add addtional items. I removed the seed from jalapeno and it didnt burn but still spicy. - 9/29/08

I make something like this all the time - it is a little more healthy using dried beans instead of canned. It is about 220 calories per 1 cup serving. I call it Fiesta chili using lots of color. I use red, black, pinto, white beans, green, yellow, red peppers, corn, chop tomatoes canned. - 9/11/08

only if your pressed for time use the canned beans! try to always use dry beans (skips all that added stuff you don't need) or rinse the beans very well - 11/28/11

If you look on the nutritional panel, Bush's chili beans were used - could the tomato items have come from using that brand of beans? The tomato amounts are so small - less than a tenth of a cup which makes me think that it came with the brand of beans - never bought the the brand so I don't know - 7/17/11
