Introduction

My favorite dairy-free, protein-rich sauce! I use it for nachos, macaroni and "cheese", anything that requires a cheesy sauce. Don't let the yeast part daunt you -- it tastes awesome! The serving size breakdown: One whole prepared recipe can break down into six equal parts (i.e. two parts = 3/4 c of sauce; or entire recipe = 6 parts totaling 2 1/4 c of prepared sauce). One part of the prepared sauce = 110 calories, 5 g of fat, 11.5 g of carbs, 6 g of protein, etc., etc. - 7/31/12

This is SO good! And it this nutritional stat is for whole batch, one serving - though I guess no-one will eat whole batch at once, it's altogether 2,5cups approximately... I took about 0.5 cups of ready sauce - 0.2 servings. - 10/15/09

DCATTANO, are you sure you used nutritional yeast and not regular baking yeast? That WOULD be gross! I made this tonight for nachos, but instead of the cornstarch and flour I added a can of garbanzo beans, reduced water to one cup , added 1/2 cup of hot salsa, and blended. Delicious! - 11/23/12

    Bad
This was awful...like badly tasting spackle. I couldn't save the batch no matter what other flavorings I added to it.

Wow, who knew these ingredients together would make such a delicious sauce! I didn't have any cornstarch on hand, but had everything else, and it's just fine without it! - 8/29/12

Oh My goodness! Superb. Warmed up leftovers tonight and added salsa. Served with corn tortillas that I cooked in oil spray until crisp, salted and then cut into chips. Served during World Series and everyone raved on and on. Great for lovers of nacho cheese sauce. - 10/27/10

I'd never even heard of nutritional yeast until a few days ago. I am a die-hard cheese lover and while you can tell that this is not exactly cheese, it's a VERY good replacement! Better than soy and FF cheese! This is a new kitchen staple for me! - 8/5/09
