We make this at our house, but instead of milk, we put 1 cup of the light orange juice. We also add 2 tbs of benefiber so that we are sure to get out fiber for the day. - 4/3/09

Why add sweetener or sweetened yogurt? The berries should be plenty sweet. I make this alsmot every morning with non fat plain yogurt (I buy a premium variety - the cheap stuff tastse awful). Add a drop of real vanilla for that vanilla kick. - 6/2/09

Try adding some greens. I know it doesn't sound appealing but smoothies are a fabulous way to get in extra nutrients. Just put a small bunch of spinach leaves or kale in the blender first and blend it up well...then add all the ingredients and you'll never know it's even in there. - 8/24/09

This is great! I added a little bit of low carb protein powder just to hold me over. Super easy to make too, I made extra and put it in the refrigerator at work so that I can grab this instead of a candy bar :) - 1/21/09

Fabulous recipe. I make a vegan version of it with soy milk or soy yogurt and freeze the banana in chunks -- comes out just like sorbet. Delish. - 7/24/09

I tweaked your recipe for my 6-year-old son, who is a picky eater and he loved it! He had a big purple smile on his face when he finished the drink. I added some protein powder, used vanilla soy milk instead of regular milk and used his activia yogurt and it was delicious. - 8/23/09

GREAT recipe! We got a slushie maker with different cups so everyone can make their own. One daughter loves Lemon yogurt with berries, another orange yogurt with mandarin oranges and bananas. My new favorite is the raspberry cheesecake yogurt with fresh berries. We buy lots of yogurt now! - 1/15/09

I used Danone silouette yogurt and 1% milk because that is what I had on hand... I didnt use any sweetner as I find the fruit is sweet enough. I do sometimes use crystal light instead of milk or just plain water... very tasty tho. - 1/7/09

I make a similar smoothie using 1 cup no fat cottage cheese in place of the yogurt. It's very high in protein & calcium. I also use about 2 T vanilla (I don't measure, I just pour a bit in the blender) & use splenda to taste. I like to add 2 T of flaxseed meal also. It has great nutritional value - 1/1/09

I made this for breakfast today. I used non fat Greek Style Yogurt (It's currently the fashionable yogurt LOL), and fresh raspberries on sale at Sprouts this week. I like to throw in a few ice cubes to make it cooler. And I added ground flax seed. Sometimes I use 1 cup of skim and .5 c. yogurt. - 8/27/09

Making smoothies for breakfast has made my son drink that milk he thought he hated... He loves smoothies! :-))
I don't use yogurt - only milk- but I like to add Wheat Germ and Hemp seeds or Sesame seeds to my smoothies for the good Omegas.

I make something similar but with unsweetened soy milk and unsweetened Greek yogurt, and I add different fruits (right now I love mango) and fruit juices in with the berries. Oh, and I think a banana gives a smoothie just the right consistency. Delicious! - 7/11/09

This is a breakfast favourite at our house. I always throw in a tbsp of nutritional yeast...you can't taste it in the smoothie and its a great source of B vitamins. For those looking for something to make it a little sweeter, substitute the milk with 1 tbsp of oj concentrate and a little water - 1/13/09
