Introduction

Cedar Grilling Planks Encouraged! Cedar Grilling Planks Encouraged!
Number of Servings: 2

Ingredients

    1 Whole Atlantic Salmon Fillet
    1 Cedar Grilling Plank (optional)
    2 Tbsp Unsalted Butter
    1 Tbsp Paprika
1 Tbsp Garlic Salt (Garlic Powder with Salt can substitute)
    1/4 Cup Lemon Juice
    1 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 Dash Pepper and smaller dash of Salt

Directions

Fire up your grill! If Cedar Planks are available, place them on the grill after it has heated up and temperature brought back down. When the plank begins to smoke or crack, it's time to begin.

Before beginning anything, melt your butter in a microwave-safe dish and set it near the grill with a brushbaster. Sprinkle pepper and salt into butter and keep nearby.

In the absence of grilling planks, a well oiled aluminum foil sheet will work fine. Lay the salmon fillet, scale side down, on the grill. Let sit for 6-8 minutes or until scales begin to cook off of underside.

After bottom-side scales flake off easily, baste top with butter mixture and sprinkle half the paprika, garlic salt, and lemon juice over the top of the salmon. Allow to grill 3 more minutes. FLIP!

Allow for 6-8 minutes grilling on this new side, then flip once more. Apply remaining butter mixture, paprika, garlic salt, and lemon juice. Grill until salmon begins to flake easily.

Before taking fillet off the grill, sprinkle your cup of cheddar cheese over the fish and allow to completely melt. As soon as melted, remove from grill and serve in halves IMMEDIATELY! Fish is always best when served piping hot.

Enjoy!

    Incredible!
EXCELLENT! My husband doesn't love fish, but he liked the tangy flavor. We didn't use the cheese, but will try it next time! - 7/27/07

I love the plank cooking. This was good, but you need good fresh salmon. I used lowfat cheese. - 3/16/07
