I thought that this recipe was excellent! I did add 1 tsp. of vanilla and about 5 tbs. of water to the recipe but they came out great!! I used low fat devil's good cake mix so I got 18 brownies out of the batch for 106 calories per brownie!!! - 4/2/09

This is the 2nd time I've made these. The first time was with the box mix and they were really pumpkinny. The 2nd time was so much better! I used Giradelli's ultimate brownie mix, 2T water, 1/2t real vanilla at 325 for 35 min. I couldn't taste the pumpkin this time!!! Sinfully delicious & real moist - 4/25/09

I love this recipe. It's very similar to Hungry Girl's recipe but she adds no water, cooks at 400 for 20 minutes and makes them into muffins. My favorite version of this is using butter pecan cake mix with pumpkin, absolutely fabulous!! - 4/18/09

Made these tonight and they are so good! I used Pillsburry but next time I am using Duncan Hines Devils food (my favorite). I forgot to add vanilla but they were so good! I baked them at 340 degress for 25 mins. next time I'll go only 20 mins so they are more fudgy. Definitely a keeper! - 4/8/09

Ok so you think the first bite is going to taste like pumpkin, but to your taste buds, it taste like a very delicious and moist brownie! It's the best kept secret! Who would have thought this would make these incredible tasting brownies! Bravo! Thumbs up from me. - 4/7/09

I made this and was really disappointed, esp. after reading all the fabulous reviews. (So it must just be me.) But I thought they were bland and tasteless and just needed "something" (like maybe oil and eggs, hahahaha)? I would not make this again. - 4/18/09

I can't wait to try this recipe! I never thought about trying a chocolate cake mix. I like to mix a 15 oz. can of pumpkin into a carrot cake mix (NO water added). These two ingredients makes wonderful Pumpkin Cookies! A few chocolate chips thrown in and I'm instantly my grandson's favorite grammy!!! - 4/7/09

It has more of a cake-like texture and you really can't taste the pumpkin. My lil son was shocked that there was pumpkin in them! He said, "But they're so chocolatey, Mum!" He definitely wants me to make them again! So, Mum tested and kid approved! Thank you! ^^ - 4/18/09

Fantastic! I have made them twice now. 1st time, I used Reduced Sugar Devils food Cake & cooked at 325 for 20 minutes, they were a little gooey (fudgy) but A+! 2nd time, I used regular Devils Food Mix & baked at 325 for 30 minutes. This time a little more dry & cake like. Try cooking for 25 min. - 4/18/09

I have been making this recipe for a about 4 years. (Now, I don't put fudge frosting on them!) Adding a little more water, about 10 oz and beating it longer, it comes out more cake like. It does work VERY well with carrot cake mix, too. - 4/2/09

Great recipe for cake-like treat! DW likes pumpkin, but it was too masked by the chocolate. Will take recommendation to use spice cake mix, or white cake. Maybe a little cinnamon or nutmeg. Also, might try brownie mix instead of cake. Great ideas, great recipe. Thanks! - 11/9/09

A little tip I like when using chocolate cake and brownie mixes-in place of the water-use equal amount of cold brewed coffee-this recipe would be good as a mexican style brownie with a litte cinnamon and chili powder for kick. - 5/5/09

I made this using Ghiardelli brownie mix and they were a big hit with both my husband and I. The pumpkin made them very moist and chewy. I did taste more of the pumpkin than I thought I would, but it wasn't overpowering. I would definately make these again. - 12/2/12

The recipe box called for 1 1/4 cup of water... I added enough water to match the consistency of cake batter, which could have been about 3/4 -1 cup. I also added 1 cup of mini chocolate chips. These brownies were very moist and wonderful. Next time I may add more pumpkin and vanilla. - 11/8/10
