Introduction

Passed down in my husband's family.. my mother in law gave me the recipe and we LOVE them! Passed down in my husband's family.. my mother in law gave me the recipe and we LOVE them!
Number of Servings: 60

Ingredients

    SUGAR COOKIES

    2/3 c shortening
    1 c sugar
    1/2 tsp vanilla
    2 medium sized eggs (slightly beaten)
    3 c flour
    2 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/3 c milk

    FROSTING

    1 box (four cups) powdered sugar
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 egg
    3 tbs shortening
    small amount of milk

Directions

Cookies:
Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla until thick and fluffy.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add alternately with milk.
Refrigerate for 1 hour. Dough is light and slightly sticky.
Use pastry cloth, well floured and rolling pin cover to roll out.
Bake 10-12 minutes at 365 degrees. Cookies do not brown.

Icing:

Combine all ingredients, mix well.
Leftover can be refrigerated for up to two weeks or
frozen indefinitely.

    They're on the crisper side. You can replace the shortening with butter for a slightly softer cookie.
