Ingredients

    1 cup (185g) Tomato ketchup
    1 tsp cider vinegar
    2 tbsp blackstrap molasses
    2 tbsp brown sugar (not packed)
    2 tbsp vegetarian worcester sauce
    2 tsp liquid smoke*
    1/2 tsp garlic granules
    1/2 tsp onion granules
    1/2 tsp ground cumin
    1/2 tsp paprika*
    1/4 tsp (or more if you like more kick) Franks Hot sauce

    (* if you can't get liquid smoke, you can use smoked paprika instead of regular if you want a smoky flavour and replace the liquid smoke with soy sauce or tamari)

Directions

Put everything into a saucepan over a medium high heat, mix well and then when it is just about to start bubbling, turn it down to medium and leave to cook for 5 mins stirring occasionally.

Yields about 1 cup, so one serving is about 1 tbsp.

    Delicious! My housemates loved it too. I'm in the UK and didn't know where to get the onion and garlic granules so I chopped onion and fresh garlic. I got the smoked paprika at Marks and Spencers - thanks for this tip since liquid smoke is not an option in the UK either. - 11/5/10
