    3 cups oatmeal
    1 cup whole wheat flour (or 2 cups oatmeal, 2 cups flour)
    1 tsp baking soda
    1/4 tsp nutmeg
    1/2 tsp cinnamon
    1 cup unsweetened applesauce
    1 cup sugar (or less)
    1 tsp vanilla
    2/3 cup raisins (or dried apples or craisins)


Combine first 4 ingredients. Mix up the next 3 ingredients and add them to the dry ingredients. Stir in the dried fruit. Roll into small balls and smash to 1/4" thickness on the cookie sheet. Bake at 275 degrees for 22-25 minutes.

Makes about 50 cookies.

    Very good! I was out of WW flour so I made it with unbleached all-purpose. I can't wait to try it with WW flour. Use the ratio of 2/2 if you want a softer cookie. - 9/30/07

    I'm sure the recipe would have been just fine as is, but I increased the cinnamon to one teaspoon, reduced the sugar to 3/4 cup sugar and added one egg white. It worked. - 1/14/11
