    1/4 cup butter
    1/3 cup flour
    8 oz. Swanson's beef broth


melt butter, add flour, stir with wire whisk, brown flour & butter until golden brown, slowly add broth 2 oz. at a time, stiring throughly after each addition, heat to boiling, serve

  • This needs A LOT more broth than it calls for and it just doesn't have the flavor I was expecting. I'd say maybe I didn't follow the instructions properly, but it was kind of hard to mess that up. It just wasn't what I was expecting/hoping for. I'd add pepper, too. Give it a bit more flavor. - 10/4/15

  • Awesome recipe! I have had troubles for years with getting my gravy to thicken. This one worked fabulous, was actually a little too thick at first, wound up adding more broth just to get the right consistency. Thank you so much! - 8/20/13
