Ingredients

    Stew meat - 1 pound
    Water - 10 cups
    Beef boullion cubes - 6
    Black pepper - 1 tbp
    Onion powder - 2 tbp
    Barley, raw - 1 cup
Potatoes, chopped very small cubes - 2 large
    Carrots, chopped - 1 cup
Tomato juice (no salt added) - 1 large can

Directions

Begin with 10 cups water. Add stew meat, beef boullion cubes, black pepper and onion powder. Bring to a boil. Add barley, potatoes and carrots. Continue to simmer on medium heat. Add tomato juice as the water is cooked off. You may add more water as needed. My family likes me to take the beef out and shred it after fully cooked. Makes approximately 10 servings. The pepper makes this a "hot" dish and you may not want to add the entire amount. It can really be served any time.
