Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    2 leeks
    3 carrots
    2 onions
    2 cloves garlic
    Bag of mushrooms
    Teaspoon marmite
    Beef stock cube
    Bottle of porter
    40 gms plain white flour
    Tablespoon olive oil
    800 gms stewing steak
    200 gms kidney

Directions

1. Soften up the onions, garlic and leeks in the olive oil
2. Coat the meat & Kidneys in seasoned flour, and add to the onion mixture to brown the meat.
3. Add the stock, marmite and beer.
4. Add carrots mushrooms.
5. Put in the oven at 160C Fan for 1½ hours.

While you can eat it straight away, it improves with age and each reheating.

    Very Good
    This is a family tried & tested recipe, that is excellent in colder weather. Variations can be made regarding the vegetables added. I like to add parsnips as well as carrots especially as they soak up the flavour of the stock, but other root vegetables can be added depending on individual preference - 11/16/10
