Introduction

These are roll out cookies from a recipe passed down to me by my Grandmother. I promised to NEVER substitute butter, margarine, or anything else for the lard. Number of Servings: 60

Ingredients

    1 cup brown sugar
    1 cup white sugar
    1 cup lard (please don't substitute)
    1 cup molasses
    2 eggs
    1/4 cup vinegar (white)
    3/4 cup milk
    8 cups white flour

    Mix together:
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. cloves
    1/4 tsp nutmeg
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1 1/2 tsp ginger
    2 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp salt

Directions

mix milk and vinegar together. Set aside.

mix sugars and lard well.
add molasses and eggs.
add milk mixture.
add 2 cups of flour and spice mixture.
mix well.
add 4 cups of flour
use 2 cups of flour on board to roll out.
cut into shapes ad place on cookie sheet
sprinkle with sugar

Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes

THIS IS A BIG BATCH...usually around 5 dozen cookies depending on size.
