Crust
365 100% Whole Wheat Flour, 0.75 cup (remove)
Butter, salted, .25 cup (remove)
Granulated Sugar, 4 tsp
Baking Powder, 1 tsp
Egg, fresh, 1 large
Milk, nonfat, .33 cup
Filling & Topping
Apples, fresh, 1 large (3-1/4" dia) (approx 2 per lb
*apple pie spice, 1 tsp
Granulated Sugar, 2 tsp
Egg, fresh, 1 large beaten
Directions
Pre-Heat oven to 425 for the crust place flour in a large bowl. Cut in the butter using a pastry blender for fork until course crumbs form. Stir in sugar and baking powder.
Combine the egg and milk in a small bowl: mix well. Add to the flour mixture, stirring until a dough forms. Cover and set aside.
For the filling peel, core and coarsely grate the apple. Place in a small bowl and mix apples and pie spice together.
Roll the dough into a 16 x 8 in. rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Cut into 10 squares. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the apple mixture onto the center of each square. Brush the edges with beaten egg. Fold the corners toward the middle covering the filling on an ungreased baking sheet.
For the topping, brush the tops of the squares without the remaining egg and sprinkle with sugar. Bake until lightly browned, 8 - 10 min. Let cool on sheet for 1 - 2 minutes.
