Introduction

Another way to make chicken for dinner! Great with mashed potatoes. Another way to make chicken for dinner! Great with mashed potatoes.
Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    1 Tbsp olive oil
    1 Tbsp garlic minced
4 chicken breasts, cut in half to make 8 pieces
    1 Tbsp paprika
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    3/4 cup red wine
    salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Heat oil in large skillet over medium high heat. Cook garlic in oil until tender. Place chicken in skillet and cook about 5 minutes on each side. Sprinkle chicken with paprika (and salt and pepper to taste) and the brown sugar; put back in skillet and brown for 1-2 minutes on each side. Pour red wine around chicken. Cover and simmer about 20-30 minutes; lightly baste chicken with wine sauce while cooking.

Makes 8 servings: each serving is a piece of 4 ounce chicken breast plus 1/8 of the sauce.

Serving suggestion: remove chicken from skillet and thicken sauce with 1 Tbsp cornstarch then serve as gravy over mashed potatoes.

For a slightly different variation, try replacing 1/4 cup of the wine with chicken broth.

    Incredible!
I was trying to look for a recipe to use up some leftover wine and I came across this recipe. I had all the other ingredients on hand so I went for it. The chicken and the wine sauce was delicious. Minimal ingredients, simple preparation and great results. This dish is full of flavor! I loved it!! - 6/27/17
