Another way to make chicken for dinner! Great with mashed potatoes. Another way to make chicken for dinner! Great with mashed potatoes.
Number of Servings: 8


    1 Tbsp olive oil
    1 Tbsp garlic minced
    4 chicken breasts, cut in half to make 8 pieces
    1 Tbsp paprika
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    3/4 cup red wine
    salt and pepper to taste


Heat oil in large skillet over medium high heat. Cook garlic in oil until tender. Place chicken in skillet and cook about 5 minutes on each side. Sprinkle chicken with paprika (and salt and pepper to taste) and the brown sugar; put back in skillet and brown for 1-2 minutes on each side. Pour red wine around chicken. Cover and simmer about 20-30 minutes; lightly baste chicken with wine sauce while cooking.

Makes 8 servings: each serving is a piece of 4 ounce chicken breast plus 1/8 of the sauce.

Serving suggestion: remove chicken from skillet and thicken sauce with 1 Tbsp cornstarch then serve as gravy over mashed potatoes.

For a slightly different variation, try replacing 1/4 cup of the wine with chicken broth.

  • I was trying to look for a recipe to use up some leftover wine and I came across this recipe. I had all the other ingredients on hand so I went for it. The chicken and the wine sauce was delicious. Minimal ingredients, simple preparation and great results. This dish is full of flavor! I loved it!! - 6/27/17
