Introduction
This was dinner last night and DH thought it was so delicious that I also packed some for lunch today and froze the rest for a later date. Feel free to make your own base tomato sauce if you like. Ingredients
-
1 24oz jar of mushroom pasta sauce (about 3 cups)
1/2 lb ground turkey, 93% lean
1tsp Mrs. Dash Garlic & Herb Seasoning Blend
1/2 tsp Wyler's Sodium Free Chicken Bouillon
1/2 c. Low fat cottage cheese
1.5 tbsp White balsamic vinegar
Directions
1.) Begin by browning the turkey in a skillet on medium heat. When the turkey is about halfway cooked, add in the Mrs. Dash so that is has plenty of time to rehydrate.
2.) When the turkey is fully cooked, deglaze the pan with the white balsamic vinegar. Stir in the bouillon at this time.
3.) Once the pan is deglazed, stir in the jar of pasta sauce (you can stretch this even further by adding 1/4 water to the jar and shaking it to get the last little bits of sauce).
4.) When the sauce begins to bubble and thicken, turn the heat to low and stir in the low fat cottage cheese. The sauce is ready when it reaches your desired thickness
5.) Serve over whole wheat pasta of your choosing along with a side salad and a steamed vegetable for a complete meal (nutrition information is for the sauce only).
Makes 10 portion-controlled servings.
