Introduction

This is the regular pot roast in the slow cooker. This is the regular pot roast in the slow cooker.
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    One beef roast(about 2 lbs)
    Ground black pepper
1 package of Lipton onion soup mix
    about 3 cups of water
    1 bag of baby carrots
1/2 of med onion sliced thick
    2 med russet potatoes

Tips

(I have started using less liquid for this recipe also but use what you find works best. All of the food has its own water and will add to the liquid in the end product.)

Directions

Sprinkle your beef with the fresh ground black pepper and some of the Lipton onion soup mix powder. *This is a recipe addition since I last posted this recipe.* I now brown the roast on all sides in a hot pan until it has a beautiful color on the meat before I add it to the crockpot. I also now make a broth with 2 cups of water and the lipton soup mix while I am browning the meat and when I remove the roast from the pan I use this broth to deglaze the pan of all the yummy brown bits and then add that liquid from the pan to the slow cooker with the meat and veggies. Add up to one cup of more water, until the roast is mostly covered with liquid. Cook for about 4.5 hours and then add your vegetables and continue cooking for the rest of the time, 2.5-3 hours. It can take a little less or a little longer. You can tell it is done when it falls apart. Yum! Enjoy

This is the best pot roast ever. Everyone who tried it asked me how I got the meat so moist. Great flavor also. - 10/12/09

    Very Good
This was yummy but I don't know if my crock pot cooks slow or what but after sitting there almost all day my meat was still tough. Next time I might cook it on high instead of low. good flavor though - 2/19/08
